Mihály Csikszentmihalyi was the first guest of BIB Talks

The first edition of the new ‘BIB Talks’ series of the Budapest Institute of Banking was held at the end of June, presenting a special guest: Prima Primissima and Széchenyi-award laureate and member of the American and Hungarian academies of science, psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. The panel discussion organized at the Ybl Buda Creative House, entitled “FLOW is Good Business” brought together almost one hundred business leaders from the financial sector.

Mihály Csíkszentmihályi is best known for his work on the mental state called FLOW. Business schools around the world are researching the theses established by the professor - who is currently a faculty member at Claremont Graduate University of California - with great interest, since organizations capable of inducing “flow” (a mental state of deep professional immersion and concentration) in employees, can greatly enhance their business performance.

It was primarily the Flow-theory that inspired the creators of the "FLOW is Good Business  – FLIGBY” leadership simulation game, an online training program based on the rules of serious gaming, developed in association with Professor Csíkszentmihályi. The main objective of the game is to familiarize users with the individual performance-boosting effect of the flow mental state and to demonstrate its strategic application in a corporate environment. The FLIGBY training on values-based leadership will be available in the Budapest Institute of Banking’s fall course offering.
